Between the blinds
I spy the action outside
I see an object
moving along the awning
outside my window
I can’t tell
if it’s a bird
or possibly a mouse
a tail hovers
just above the gutter
and I feel
a twinge of discomfort
It’s disconcerting
a rodent that close
to home
I keep looking
waiting for movement
waiting
waiting to learn
it’s true identity
a gust of wind
blows through
and a leaf
masquerading
as a possible rodent
flutters to the ground
ever revealing
my absurd, warped vision
Leaf Mouse
Great write!
