i am sure i am not

the first to put a grape stem

on an envelope



but i am fairly sure

i am the first to do it on

the cover of a poem to you

and i am the first that

knows how to spin sweet love

in your direction



so much so you can't even

begin to talk to me about it



you can't even communicate

what you know you should

say to me



and you know if you don't

you will lose something

you might never ever

get back again



and because of that

you will start anew

and do what you know you

are not comfortable doing



or lose what brings you

so much comfort



and you are smart enough

to make all the right moves
