cat and mouse

kisses



     sometimes at

     an art museum

     i am more interested

     in the wear patterns

     in the carpet

     than anything

     on the wall



give me your

tom & jerry

playfulness



     i tell myself

     i'm not going

     to write you

     anymore poems

     when that doesn't work

     i say i'm not going to

     give you them once written

     and then there they are

     in your hands



give me your

tender lips



give me that

excitement



that simplicity
