Dear Humanity

I'm not the same girl I was ten years ago
If I was I'd be a hero

I was naive as a child
To think that  world problems were mild
My mind has let me down once again
As I fail to pick up a paper and pen
I can no longer express what goes on in my head
With broken syllables to say what has to be said
But here's a thread of reality
And an awakening of morality
An excuse to have my voice heard
In a crowd who may think it's absurd
To express my concern
With poetry we write while we yearn
Instead of focusing on what needs to be learned

Dear Humanity,
It's so sad to see
What lands on the covers of magazines
What I would do
To be like you
Kylie Jenner
Front and centre
A configuration of plastic
Is just enough to mask it
Hide and seal whatever seems real
It's okay to skip a meal
Your waist should not exceed a paper
Do we have a taker?

Dear Humanity,
It's so sad to see
Our catastrophe
The way we are obsessed with profit
Like a dollar bill is a protective socket
We lock it
In a system to mock it
When the only thing we should be investing in is our time
Instead of abbreviations, we practice rhyme
Learning to express ourselves through more than our wallets
And go and help those without running faucets
It's not difficult to be a decent human being
To end hatred with one another is freeing.

A message to you,
My dear humanity,
Have audacity
And don't worry about your weight
Or how much is on your plate
Start a clean slate
You're more than a rate
You don't need money and possession to satisfy the obsession
Of being perfection
Because that is undefinable
The world is unreliable
Be your own guide
You're running out of time
And this is your sign.

Didacticism

You tell humanity! Rant on -allets-

Greed finds balance in altruism

egotism in sharing wisdom.

Both are timeless lessons

too easily forgotten.
