Superstition

A rabbit's foot brings good luck

your fate the stars can tell
yet beneath a ladder you must never duck
lest fortune bids farewell

Take care to never spill salt

or you shall watch your destiny moulder

yet bad luck you may exalt

by throwing salt across your shoulder

A black cat in your path is cause for fear
but an itchy eye can go either way
the right promises that success is near
and the left foretells dismay

Deep are the roots of superstition
far deeper than the murky oceans
this chronic search for prediction
and hope in magic potions

How Did You Know

About my magic potions? Didn't know about the eyes itching. Absent a faith humans will invent the mysterious, the why and the purpose of everything.
