In the winter of life
my mind ponders
on this morbid thought
All that I am
and all I have been
shall be for naught
Fame, power
and fortune
I have always sought
Undisputed master
of all that
could be bought
Though many feats
and mighty deeds
I may have wrought
Greater are
the miracles
that the world forgot
If a lesson through
crumbling castles
could be taught
Nature of things is
to fail and fall
in dust and rot
So what has a lifetime
of ambition
truly begot?
To my great shame
An answer
I have not
.
'u' Yep. That sounds right.
