better days

The day you turn your head around

I will no longer be there

no longer be the work light

to your darkness.

no longer the rope

to pull you from the well.

not a string

for you to pull back and forth.

no longer that happy smile

you always adored.

I will be a mirror, when you look

to show your selfishness.

I will have wings

so I can continue to fly when you fall.

I am the happiness

you used to hold.

I no longer felt love, it was sad

and that's hardest feeling to have

knowing I'm better off.

I do not read many poems that make my heart go thump. You need to keep writing, and I will keep listening to how your succinct words speak so loud. Your emotions do not whisper, they resound in this poem. Nice piece of work. Stay strong.
