WHEN J.B. PLAYED THE LONE STAR

When James Brown played

the Lone Star Café

it was sheer, ecstatic insanity;

both sets sold out in minutes

volume turned up to the max.

Ticketless souls left outside

dancing on the street corner

of 5th AVE and 13th ST

The funky sounds

vibrating the building

and the sidewalk outside.

The party overflowed

into the streets

and went into the wee hours

like any good party does.

Is J.B. Still In Jail?

Is he still alive? We rocked to Please Please Please. I remember the vid of him throwing off the cloak. JB. An ultimate influence on sound. I bet that was a great concert. (looked it up he died 2006 Christmas Day in Atlanta.) - slc
