INDOOR DOG

The dog wanted
to chase the squirrels
& go after
the stray calico cat
that hunts voles in the backyard.
A wild hare runs
along the wooden fence
and ducks into a hole.
Several birds retreat
into the bamboo jungle.
The dog can’t decide
which playmate to pursue
but I decide he’s an indoor dog
when I spy a skunk
peeking out from under the shed.
Dogs Are Social Animals
I can see them perceiving other creatures outside as friends. It is a dog's thing, running with the pack - any pack will do, apparently. Enjoyed this one. :D
