It was a warm afternoon

in downtown Telluride

and I found myself 

in the odd position

of fancying a non alcoholic beverage.

I settle for a 12 oz root beer

that I am assured will please me.

It’s wet and sweet with

hints of herbal flavors.

It hits the spot

& then some.

I arrive at Town Park

for the bluegrass festival

and I find the music 

to be livelier and more intense

than usual.

The sunset becomes more vivid

as it sets over the mountains.

The moon is out and quite a few stars

dot the skyline above the mountains.

It’s a lovely night

as I learn,

in Colorado,

even the root beer

can greatly enhance an evening.
