Then there was the time
my 22 month old nephew
inspected my bedroom.
He pointed to a poster
of Ronald Reagan
saying, “Da da, Da da.”
and I said, “No,
that’s not Daddy.
That’s Ronald Reagan.”
But then I paused
to consider
maybe he’s referring
to Dada art;
an early 20th Century group
that predated surrealism.
I guess you could argue
that Reagan’s presidency
was actually a work of Dada art.
He was more violent;
a better instigator
and even harder to understand.
We need war like quotes
and a general emphasis
on all around chaos
& purity in nonsense.
A cowboy riding off
with a nuclear missile saying,
“Well, you know. . .”
I don’t remember
what I was doing
on August 12, 1986,
do you?
and don’t even
dredge up the Constitution.
These sacred cows
must be destroyed!
My nephew might
be onto something
Ronald Reagan may well be
The greatest dada artist ever.
Surely Breton and Tzara
are sissies
by comparison.
IF I MET TRISTAN TZARA
I'd run. Regan? Yeah, I'd run faster. Cool write - Beware the visits of 22 month old nephews who find art. :D
