Trickling Down

The dandelions danced--delighted to have potted

above us to provide some shade so we don't

dry out our soil with the shining sun

It rains and we get enough -- over the potted

dandelions' place above but then

the soil was not wet as long and

we questioned the way of things,

A bigger pot to block more shade

A bigger pot and it'll rain more and

it'll trickle down as there's more rim

to drop down from

and so it was dandelion's delight of

larger and bigger and

it rained and rained and they said

see that's what we told you and

it soon was a drought and they said

that a larger pot to make it rain

and so they danced and

the next rain so little trickled down

the soil has dried and we cannot

start to seed the next generation

while dandelions dance

and they said a larger pot and we said no

but still it went on and on and on and

the dandelion's delight soon darkened

the whole ground as the weight in

the oversized pot cracked and broke

the wired shelf that held it and

we all fell.
