I'm not that good
Now I can sculpt and chop some wood!
I want to write metaphorically
With heart and grace
Like music with feeling
And lots of bass.

My first poems were quite
My first poems were quite horrid but I kept writing and my skill slowly began to raise. There is no great poet who didn't write a few bad ones.

This poem pokes pins into the pillows of poets who have spent far too many hours reaing books of verse and prosody to "nail it" or any version of good writing. It takes years, or if you are a genius, a few good reads and off you go.
