My grandfather's lake house

My grandfather’s lake house

If you ask me which childhood memory I cherished the most, I would say spending time at my grandfather’s lake house. It may be just another ordinary house but for me was like the best place on earth. Since I was a little kid I watched my grandfather working and building the idea of it, the house of his dreams. He started with an empty piece of land a lot of plans in mind. After some time he figured out it what he really wanted. He wanted a lake house. He was aware it was nothing easy to make but he didn’t really cared. He started by designing the whole place and months later he already had a construction going on. That was it, the beginning of his favorite experience. Even though my grandfather worked all day and not often have time to waste, he always found a way to make time and work on the lake house. It didn’t matter if it was too late or if he just had a tiresome and annoying day, he spent at least one hour either working or planning on new ideas for the construction of the lake house. Always trying to make it better and safe so people such as friends and family could be able to enjoy it as much as he was sure he will. The time passed and after two years of effort and hard work he did it, he finally accomplished his dream.  He created the house of his dreams. He was so happy about it he even prepare a kind of opening in which he invited all of his friends and family so they could have a nice time together and enjoy the whole lake house. I still remember that day as if it was yesterday. It was in summer of 2001, I was 6 years old and even before I saw the whole place, I loved it. It was impossible for me to get bored or tired of being there. And that was something I shared with my grandfather it was our favorite place ever. Now that I think about it I can understand that more than a lake house it became an example of perseverance and determination. It doesn’t matter how hard it gets carrying on with your goals, never give up because at the end it is going to be totally worth it.

Always  put the main idea

Always  put the main idea first to grab the reader: At the lake house (when) (where) (who's) is my favorite memory. Hard hit the reader with the emotional aspect as place.

Riverview Street, the street where i grew up. I remember my favorite people and closest relatives from Riverview Street. The house was small and brown stucco, six rooms, two bedrooms, but the kitchen was the center of our meeting activity. The rest of the time, we broke out in ones, twos, and threes and spread out anywhere on the six lots that surrounded mu first home. In springtime, we sat under white blossomed Catulpa trees, in fall we ate wite and purple grapes from the grape arbor. The cherries and raspberries were great as snacks I remember most. Riverview Street in Port Huron Michigan, 1950 to 1961, until we moved to Detroit. Still, 1605 Riverview Street is the only place I truly think of as "home". ~~ Stella L. Crews~~

Write it with prosaic style - in your own voice, how you remember it with extra attention to  how you say it--so that the reader will remain engaged. Read Creative Writing Workshops 101-106 by allets in prose section on Postpoems to learn the elements of style.  ~~~allets~~~
