As I stand here
Looking up
At the sky.
I see
Heavy, gray, fluffy,
Rain clouds.
I close my eyes
And feel
The ocean water,
Thrown around by the wind,
Sting at my face
Drop by drop.
Each drop hits my face,
And with every drop
The salty scent
Becomes stronger and stronger.
The breeze
Picks up a bit
Like a boat
Kicking up a knot,
And carries the aroma
Of fresh rain
Before it falls.
The rain.
With a sweet, fresh scent,
Also brings a bit
Of a salty scent.
As a drop
Hits my eyelid,
My eyes flutter
Like a butterfly.
I open
My eyes wide
And look forward
Towards the ocean.
The first thing
I see
Is the love
Of my life.
As I look
Into his eyes
I get lost.
His eyes
As deep blue
As the skies
Above the gray clouds.
As blue
As the deep-sea behind him
Crashing against the shore.
As blue
As the clear sea.
He reaches out
And touches my face.
His hand
Feels as kind
As a butterfly landing
On a delicate rose.
I lift
My hand
From my side
And place it
Upon his face.
His face
As soft
As a babies
After a bath.
All of a sudden
His lips
Graze against mine
Making
My heart flutter,
Like a distressed fish in the sea,
I get a quick, sweet taste
Of his moist lips.
He grabs me and holds me close,
So close
We look as though joined at the hips.
As we look
To the left
We see
The waves
Hammering
On the rock wall.
We keep watching
As this thunderous wave
Crashes on
The beginning
Of the wall
And continues down
The wall
In an almost
Domino effect
Down the wall,
But before that wave
Stopped
Another one
Began
And ended
A couple seconds later.
The waves
Keep coming
Spraying us,
Its salt droplets
Stinging our face
Like tiny sand fleas.
I look forward
Towards the ocean.
I see
Homely looking seagulls
Squawking up a storm,
Flying diving acting
As dumb as fish.
I look down
At the sand.
I see
Tiny sandpipers
Scurrying across
The sand,
Like it is hopping across hot coals.
Hard to see
They are
As tiny as mice.
I see
Shells and rocks
Sharp and pointy.
The sand
Moist
Like his lips
And as cold
As ice.
As cold
As walking outside
In the snow – barefoot.
I look
To my right,
I see
Elderly couples
Walking their dogs
And watching their grandchildren.
I hear
laughter,
I hear
seagulls,
We feel
Fire frolicking inside us.
He and I
Close our eyes,
Embrace each other closer
And feel
The fire inside
Our hearts.
Our love,
So warm
We feel the flames,
And we stand there
And embrace the warmth
As if it was a fire in front of us.
Our hearts
So close
I feel that
If he was at the other side
Of the ocean in front of us
We would still be close
And warm.
Our eyes open,
The fire is still
Dancing around
Inside of us.
We look at each other
And pull
Each other closer.
He pulls my face
Close to his,
As I bring my face
Close to his,
I smell
His Old Spice
And the salt in the waves.
Our face becomes millimeters apart,
As our lips touch,
My heart flutters
Like a butterfly in spring,
And a couple seconds later
We part our lips
Smile
And hold each other close.
We finally look up
And gaze
At the rest of the scenery.
We see
Hotels, cars, roads, and sand dunes
Covered with snake grass.
It is now time to go,
And I take
One last look
At the waves
Still pounding
Upon the wall
As if trying to
Pulverize the wall
To oblivion.
He and I
Slowly walk off
The beach
Towards the truck,
Leaving the sand,
The salty scent,
The wind,
The salt water stinging our face,
The elderly people
With their dogs
And grandchildren,
The seagulls
And sandpipers,
The waves
Pounding amongst
The rock wall
And most of all,
The love we shared
Here amongst the rocks
And sand
At the jetty…
