Jean-Paul Gagnon's Run (Short Story)

After an hour, Jean-Paul Gagnon succeeds in tying his running shoes, only to then untie them, as he had forgotten to place his feet in first. Upon resolving the matter, Jean-Paul Gagnon runs toward the door to commence his daily exercise, yet remains in place. After heated negotiations with himself, Jean-Paul Gagnon drops his mime act and runs out the door. So with loosened hinges, the door escapes.

Jean-Paul Gagnon chases after him. Smelling the door run faster, Jean-Paul Gagnon drops the television from his arms and gains speed. The door shifts to a higher gear, followed by Jean-Paul Gagnon. An officer clocks the two as running 52 in a 35 mph zone, so the law enforcer switches on his siren. Despising cops, Jean-Paul Gagnon and the door increase their velocity to the broken sound barrier, losing the cop. The two run up and around obstacles like supersonic ants.

Behind still, Jean-Paul Gagnon increases himself to near light speed, only for the door to match him. The two encircle the globe, bending space-time onto itself. Jean-Paul Gagnon runs in on his earlier self at the moment the door is unhinging itself. Frightened, Jean-Paul Gagnon escapes through the window, then outruns his physical body. Along the ethereal state, Jean-Paul Gagnon trips on an untied shoestring and elbows a passing angel.
