Kiss the Sky

A dawn breaking anew through the trees

I smiled softly, lifting my hair in the breeze

I can feel your presence, so strong, so free

I miss you more then words could ever speak.

I kiss the sky;

A distant light continued to shine

Your presence continued to linger in the air

As I freely let myself dwell upon the time.

I knelt beside your tomb, placing a rose

A delicate spark of love I wish you were here to share

I've come to learn I'll see you again

And that this life is worth living, worth the spare.

These years have come and gone, so quickly

I've wondered what is to become of  me

I hope you're  proud, I hope you can really see

I'll cherish this life, with every fiber of my being.

I kiss the sky;

A distant light continued to shine

Your presence continued to linger in the air

As I freely lost myself in the time.

And I kiss the sky;

A smile still playing at my lips

Tracing my fingers over the inscription

Perhaps this life is worth living.

This poem is incredible. I love the words... I truly do. The mourning and the feeling of loss is so amazingly captivated...
It's amazing. You know how to capture this stuff. Not many poets do. Truly, truly, amazing.
