trellis

Folder:
intermission

i used to have these marvelous dreams
soaring through the microcosm of eternity;
unabridged, and yet,
immaculate in their definition.
i dream so little anymore,
save for the occasional nightmare.
all along the city limits
houses pockmark the horizon,
claiming the people they care to own
and i am among the many imprisoned.
when joyous news presents itself
i consider it worth pondering
until i consider otherwise.
as the hours grow long
my sorrows grow through
like vines climbing
an unscalable trellis.
