Dead in the Water

Ice, Frost, Cold, Winter Trapped beneath the frozen
lake; drowning in the icy swill
Staring up at the surface;
suffocating, falling
No one to save you
this time
The end of it all;
water entering your mouth
helpless but still conscious
minutes seeming like hours
until finally the light fades from your eyes
and you sink to the bottom like a dead weight
gone forever.
