My Grandfather´s Treasures

The person that I respect the most in this world is my grandfather. My grandfather thought me a lot of things in my professional life. He thought me the importance of always being an honest man, and how perseverance and hard work, will always make you succeed in everything you try. One thing that he thought me was to value treasures of life. Since I was a little kid he had showed me all of his treasures. For the most part, his treasures were objects that reminded him memories of his youth. During all these years he showed me train tickets, which reminded him when he used to live in Europe. He also showed me a lot of books, which he used to read me when I was 6 years old before I slept. He read me the story, and then explained it to me, because at that age, it was difficult for me to understand stories he used to read when he was 18.  In order to explain the greatest treasure that my grandfather always had, I need to back up a little bit. A couple months ago, in December, my family planed a trip to Morelia (where my grandfather lives). Just when the trip was planned, I got an offer job that I couldn’t refuse, because it was my dream job. So I couldn’t make the family trip and visit my grandfather. I thought that was not a problem, so I decided to wait 2 weeks and visit him by my own on my Christmas vacations. While I was in Monterrey, my mom called me and told me that my grandfather passed away while they were in the family trip. I drove to Morelia that same night, a 9 hours trip just by myself, was something very difficult to encounter. When I arrived Morelia, my mom told me that my grandfather missed so much the fact that I couldn’t visit him because of my work, but he was very proud of me.  My mom also told me, that the day before he passed away, my grandfather told my mom that his most valuable treasure was a picture of me. That he loved so much and couldn’t be prouder of me. That picture was his most valuable treasure. I’ll live my life as he thought me. I will always be an honest man, I will never give up on anything, and I’ll work so hard and someday I hope I can become at least half of what my grandfather was. I will always make him feel proud of me, and I will start to collect treasures of my own life.
