This is who I am
This is how I respect my father
Who raised me to be a man
And even though I'm not perfect
Nobody really can
I try to make it a point to understand
A little bit more then I did the day before
I mean we should at least comprehend
What we hear for
I want to be a good man
So I try to live like the examples that came before me
Cheif Joseph, Dr. King, brother Marley, and Ghandi
To not be satisfied with what I know
To push my understanding further
The prophet Muhomed, the Lord Jesus Christ, and my father
To be a light in a world so dark
To be a voice that peirce the heart
To try to become something greater then I can
To undestand it's not the destination
But the journey that defines who I am
Nice to meet you too, Shawn
I found your poem, “Who I am” and really enjoyed it… It’s perfect in every way!
What really is a grabber for me is,
"To try to become something greater then I can To undestand it's not the destination But the journey that defines who I am"
Those words have such meaning and are so true.
Also, I like the tribute to John Lennon, “Imagine.”
Off the hook. The ending made the whole piece rock. LOVED IT!!!! You are very talented. Please continue to write.
