Right of Passage

I wanted you to know,

That I am here,

To make your dreams a reality,

But I've failed you,

I've failed you so many times,

How could you ever trust me?

How could you ever believe me?

If there was a day we could live,

To share and hold onto,

I'd trade my life for yours,

So you would know how I feel,

So you could see how much you mean to me,

Hiding inside your wooden prison,

To preserve you,

From the time I failed you the most,

To embrace you,

Upon your new found journey,

How I wish I was with you,

How I wish I could comfort you,

All that has passed,

Time never shines upon me,

The food never quenches this hunger,

The wine just seems so empty,

My desire for you is still strong,

Even though you have passed on,

I still feel your warm sun,

The fire that burns in me,

Will never fade away,

The tears I've shed,

The struggle I continue,

Is all for you,

I will never forget you,

I will never be the same...
