Porcelain Doll

No one understands
That their endless demands
Can crush a glass doll
When put on one so small.
A short while can you hide
The cracks on the inside,
Before they appear
And your complexion isn’t as clear.
Everyone notices but you,
The beauty no longer seems new.
Un-captured tears stained
Your skin that is now pained
By unmentioned thoughts.
Once sky-blue eyes are now plain dots.
Silk, fashionable attire
Falls off as rags and reveals the underwire.
Hair becomes dull and brittle;
Your bow crumbles in the middle.
A large crack crawls across…
Breaking your face, bringing the loss.
Unable to stand tall anymore,
You fall limply on the cold floor;
Staring up with defeat,
Only now you realize you’ve been beat.
A tear rolls from your eye,
As you breathe your final sigh.
