I LOVE MONSOON BUT...

Strong gusts of monsoon winds,
Dark clouds laden with rain,
Collide to create lightning and thunder,
Like Earth venting out its pain.
Showers make several people joyous,
While for some they herald more misery,
The well-to-do and the affluent,
Make merry without care or worry.
Even I want to enjoy the weather,
Even I like being happy and carefree,
Yet, I cannot, as I venture out and roam,
And see downtrodden, suffering, without a groan.
Their huts, collapsed, their belongings sunk,
Their belongings floating on the rain water,
Their children, caught in wet mud and crying,
And untold agony in their oldies' eyes, wailing.
I like William Wordsworth* and his love of nature,
But I cannot feel like him when I see poor suffer,
My heart can only feel and send a quiet prayer,
To Lord God Almighty of absolute power.
It is very pleasing and cool whenever it rains,
Especially in summer when the sun shows its fury,
However, it is also a time when I am sad to see,
The misery of the helpless and the state's apathy.
