WHAT GIVES LIFE A MEANING

The past and present are far and nigh
Tears and laughter mingle as I try
To carry on...
Sleep too ends like dried up streams
When there are not enough dreams
To bank upon...
Spring comes and knocks, not in vain
At my deserted doorstep once again
Renewing hope...
Love too smiles from far away
With a fond longing, on my way
I pause awhile...
I want to fade away out of sight
From mundane toiling day and night
It isn't easy...
Some people still depend on me
And I must keep in tune with destiny
Just for them...
Graveyard shift work is my routine
Often extended like a machine
Stretching on...
What was long ago a karmic pact
Has in this existence become a fact
I can't deny...
With my heart synchronised to struggle
I mould my thinking mind and battle
For victory...
The one I know and love also knows
Why we are so distant and not so close
To each other...
While at nights favourite singers croon
Stacey Kent and Norah Jones with the moon
Treat my wounds...
Beloved Daphne often smiles from Eden
Hearkening me to join her in the Garden
Of spiritual bliss...
So much misery fills this world today
I keep doling out news all the way
To everyone...
So when this task ends and I am free
I return to the sweet one waiting for me
In the wee hours...
We talk and sing and share everything
As the night vanishes and the birds sing
The tunes of dawn...
She, my sweet friend, is God's blessing
And it's due to her that I find meaning
In emptiness...
So pass the days and nights of survival
Joys of friendship unconditional
Ease the stay...
So, O dear readers, let me tell you
Without someone there just for you
Life's farcical.
