NOSTALGIA -- MY REJOINDER TO SHEHZAD LATIF'S POEM

The time bird just flies away,

Without us even feeling it,

It soars above, reminding that,

What we have wont forever stay.

Old books contain in every page,

What we all shared between us,

Old gifts are still there, preserved,

Like a bus stand with its only bus.

Music, laughter, joy and pain,

We did not care, for sun or rain,

The sandwiches and snacks on a cold day,

Remained ingrained, never to part away.

The library where we met and read,

The comics too, of Archie, Jughead,

Of Spiderman, Batman and the Hulk,

I am sure you still have that bulk.

Doesn't Chris de Burgh's 'The Traveller',

Al Stewart's haunting 'On the border',

And Abba's famous 'Super Trooper',

Move you to tears my dear brother?

The paths we walked, the roads on bike,

I see that Kawasaki, how it was like,

Where all we went on that steel horse,

Every wonderful moment- without remorse.

Friendship is the best of relationships,

Selflessness is its foundation,

Love in this world demands and fades,

But friendship is like unending Everglades.
