Stanzas begin: Deborah Russell, Responses:Muhammad Naveed Ahmed, Ending stanza: Deborah Russell
nothing can hide
beneath deceit
not even a mouse
smiles are a mirage
water shines in plenty
heart a parched desert
many tears flow
from dry alibis
deceptions wellspring
dry twigs snap
sandstorms are sudden
rainclouds melt away
all men are guilty
under each new sun
each face is a shade
deceived soul seeks
tree shade invisible
companion cuts limbs
branches are scattered
new buds upshoot
spring waits for blossoms
sun climbs up
feet soles burn
lovingly she stabbed me
broken wings
can not fly or soar
neither can the sun
heat scorches deep
unable to find trust
what caused treachery?
desert is parched
yet it does not thirst
without truth - lies
sand dunes mock
dried bones want comfort
truth holds no meaning
bedouin's journey
reveals long shadows
in tiny tent of trust
bedouin looks
camel has been stolen
darkness creeps stealthily
a feather of light
reveals white dunes
truth knows the way
the light ray dies
how to reach white dunes?
serpent lurks with sharp fangs
light is eternal
serpent recoils
dunes vision clear
serpent changes not
nor does nature
traveller prays to God
is God not the light?
the creator of nature
then yes traveller prays
