Wings

With windblown hair,

and tear-stained cheeks,

She walks.

Away from pain.

Far from the suffering.

Leaving the hate behind.

Her destination will end it all.

Pace quicking,

Her foot hits a puddle.

Cold water slashes her.

With a sudden stop,

Then a slow walk.

Reaching the sharp edge,

She looks down the cliff,

At the rushing water below.

Closing her eyes,

She listens to the waves crash againest the rocks,

and her clothes flapping in the wind.

Taking a step back,

Knees bent slightly.

Prepared to jump,

and accept her demise.

A hand grabs her,

Pulling her back.

She holds her angel close

As he strokes her hair

Placing a kiss,

On the top of her head.

He whispers...

"You need wings to fly."
