To Give The People Hope

Folder:
FINAL

For centuries amongst the clouds her beauty boasted,

as all the world gazed with awe.

Fashioned with wings of glory, eyes of blue,

lips of red.

Her flesh and blood chosen by God.

She, so perfect cannot be faltered.

On her pedestal, her beauty reigns.

As they gaze upon her with their eyes of wonder,

they know her shelter will yield the storms.

Child like, they reach to grasp her fine clothing,

to touch what is obviously not theirs.

She on her pedestal, listens for centuries,

and as she listens, she hears deep sorrows,

masses of sins, she could never perform.

For she is divine.

But even so, the finest lips have concealed too much.

Her helpful hands fall helpless at her side,

for they beg of her now.

Too many pleas shadow the sky.

As they rise to her, asking for everything,

she is but one and can only give so much.

They do not see what her blue eyes hide.

In fact,

they never saw her at all.

They only prayed that she was real,

that she would grant them what they deserve.

"I cannot reach them from this high home" she pled.

"They need to see me to believe".

Her wings of feather, are too heavy now,

she is crippled with the weight of hope.

The hope she once gave, took its toll,

turned her smile into stone.

And that is where they come to her, yield at their knees,

tears of sorrow, heart of hope.

She now a statue, heavy stone.

She is trapped now for eternity,

for she pled to God to roam the earth.

To keep her safe, he placed her there.

All she wanted was to help.

God told her they would never believe her

if she was placed there wrapped in flesh.

She divine, selflessly agreed,

and God bestowed her with her own request.

Now amongst the earth, her beauty boasts,

ever trapped in stone.

Her wings of glory now of rock,

helpless to fly home.

To give the people what they deserve.

To give the people hope.
