You don't know what to do,

When you've pushed someone too far,

You can apologize and hope they forgive,

That's just the way things are,



You know that you've hurt them,

And that you've lost their trust,

But you can only try so hard,

You can only do so much,



You think about the little things,

How what you said was wrong,

How you wish you hadn't said them,

The thoughts just come along,



You think of how you've confused them,

With everything you've said,

How you don't know if they'll forgive you

Now the relationship is dead,



You wallow in your misery,

You try to tell them you feel bad,

But they don't want to talk about it,

And you know that they are mad,



You're afraid to bring it up,

Because you know how it'll hurt,

You know it'll made them bitter,

Of their feelings you are alert,



You have to drop the subject,

That is for the best,

No matter how much you want to talk,

You've got to let it rest,



You've apologized and for now,

That's all you can do,

Just continue to love them,

And you will make it through.
