School Girl

School's open and she quietly walks in,

Finding her friends from kylie to lyn.

Her boyfriend walks by without even noticing,

But at last it's his voice that she's hearing.

She walks into the form room with her tight fitting mask,

Waiting secretly for someone to notice or ask.

Names are registered on this autumn Friday,

But somethings special...in it's own little way.

She looks to her boyfriend, whispers "I love you",

But she knows the mask wouldn't let the words through.

The day goes by and the bell rings at three,

And she remembers that he's with her for tea.

She makes her way through the school corridor,

And finally see's what she's been looking for.

He takes off her mask and they walk together,

And somehow he guards her from the rotten weather.

A different set of friends, but still, she's hardly known,

But she doesn't care, 'cause now she's not alone.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Having to wear a mask with her school friends, then others that see the real her...yet her boyfriend see's both sides. get it...?

i can understand why there is a need to be two people at times. The one the world sees that is strong. And the more gently side that the loved ones see when we are alone with them
