Blue and White

Blue and White

“Men are vicious creatures”, said one of the gods of the Universe. “They destroy and ruin and crush everything we bestow upon them. Let’s create a world with creatures of pure hearts instead, creatures capable of love, gratitude and grace.” And so the gods created and molded earth and in it they allowed only animals to live. All kinds of animals lived on Earth and they enjoyed the beautiful sights that the gods had given them. Everything was beautiful, the smoky rain forests, the meadows, the snowy mighty mountains and the vast blue oceans. But the gods are envious deities and they envied the animals’ capacity to love, so they cursed them and gave the animals their only one rule: Earth would be beautiful and vast and prosper, if and only if, there was no love between species. Mice must love mice, dolphins must love dolphins and wildcats must only love wildcats. If this wasn’t so then Earth would be no more, the oceans would dry, the ground would tremble and the stars would fall. The animals lived this way for many many hundreds of years, loving their own through the generations. They enjoyed the Earth the gods had given them and went by their rules.

And then, once, there was a blue bird. The blue bird lived on a nest on her tree and flew through the forest and the valleys, opening her beautiful wings and surfing the wind. Her wings reflected back blue light from the sun’s warm light and she looked like a blue zaphire flying through the air. Everyday the white stallion watched the blue bird, mesmerized by her beauty and grace. And everyday the blue bird flew along the white stallion who galloped through the valley also shinning like a diamond in the sun. They never said the word, in fear that the gods would hear them, but they loved each other, they always had. “The gods must not know, no one must know, for the sake of this world we live in” the white stallion whispered to the blue bird while she rested on his mane. “Then we shall part, go different ways, for the sake of our world” said the blue bird. They separated across the forest to be away from each other, to protect their world from their love. They were apart but they were incomplete. The blue bird’s wings didn’t shine anymore and the white stallion had slowed his pace. “How would they live life this for the rest of their lives?” they thought. Is it worth living without one another? Is this world worth their heartbreak? Love is everything. Love is life. Love is Earth. And so, they each went back to the valley. She flew to him and he galloped towards her. “This world is no world to me if you don’t fly by my side” the white stallion said. “This world is no world to me if your strong legs don’t run along with me” she said. “I love you” they both said “and we will love each other forever”.  Slowly the stars faded, the ocean tide ran away from shore and the ground started to shake. Their love lived forever and a new world began.

I'm coming around

But I want it to be a special place.
