I thought about
watching
all the ‘Jeopardy’ episodes
recorded on the DVR,
Then looking like a genius,
When we played them back
together.
But you're probably watching them,
With her
and will smoke me outta the water,
If we even ever play them back,
together.
You know,
I thought about
calling the guy before you,
There is probably more than one,
to make me feel, desirable,
When we crawl back into bed
together.
You’re hanging out with ex’s,
There’s definitely, a few,
So you’ll say,
be free my dove, do
whatever, makes you feel
best.
Not that, though.
Not that.
Cuz ex’s are ex’s for a very good reason.
Definitely expired.
You know
I thought about
Losing weight,
Writing a book,
Painting the walls,
Cleaning the shed, the attic, the drawer o’ junk,
But, instead, I eat the ice cream,
I bought you
Last winter.
So come home.
You know
I’ll fast forward through the Alex stories,
The DVR’ll be cleared
Of the late-guy-before-you’s
Documentary and travel shows,
And a couple of Big Brothers,
All dreams dreamed up by others,
Shows meant for other twos,
And start all fresh and new,
A friendless FaceBook page,
All dedicated to you.
PS
I had to douse the
ice cream,
with loads of chocolate syrup,
I mean,
you know,
who eats
vanilla
ice cream
anyway.
