After The Storm

After the Storm

By

Dennis Hicks

After the storm, the raindrops still fall

Calmly, almost serene

as they gather together

to form a gentle pond

'Twas I once told that the rain was God’s tears

I surmised that thunder and lightning

to be God’s anger

As the smell of the fresh rain,

the calm of the storm

is soothing and refreshing

to my soul

The bittersweet taste of the rain that fell

serves to remind me

that this will be the last tear I taste from this storm

And now after the storm,

it is time,

for me to look for the promise,

of the rainbow
