Come Lest Another Day

COME LEST ANOTHER DAY

Come lest another day the shackles rattle,

telling me, I’m still not free.

Visions are to become one more night,

tucked away, hidden,

in the very depths of my soul.

I pray that one day soon the chains;

that tether your heart so tight,

be shaken and broken, released forever,

allowing your soul to purge haunted visions of me,

returning to you, sweet slumber.

The earth’s orb, shelters time,

gathers thoughts, clouds the mind.

Yet I be silent, no one can hear,

pain is neutral,  so is my fear.

So true when you speak

of the pain you are burying,

taking no sides

for it has claimed me too.

Desires of pleasing, pillows of lace,

retrace their steps.

When faced with reality

of different dreams,

abandoned dismissals

await such fate.

My heart sometimes falters

and stumbles, back to the thought

of your arms and your warmth.

Reluctantly as I awake,

your smell lingering,

between a dream and a pillow.

I face life without you.
