once again I had the desire to undress you
(not just in the physical sense)
not just pulling off your leather jacket,
or your two sizes too small skinny jeans
(like grinch pants)
but undressing you the way a lover does
pulling back your skin like fabric over a metal frame
(your heart doesn't look that way)
and eating the fruits of your labored breathing
(secrets)
as we kiss,
I leave my touch to dwell like dust on an ancient table
(forever?)
even as the gap between us widens
these urges remain
to stare into your pale red orbs
(like cherry mirrors)
and find something steady dwelling behind your eyes
to silently move my head to the nape of your neck
(do you remember?)
and talk about the things I love
and the things I miss
(you, on both counts)
wanted to show you
the drying of the oceans
(my cheeks)
destruction and beauty in retrospect
(see the world)
just one more night
is what I wanted,
(maybe two)
where I came home with you
(never enough time)
and didn't have to cross the divide again
to drive back to Indiana
(back to chat clients and quick video chats)
because the break is over
(and you wonder why I want to go to EKU)
and the answer is there if you look
but
maybe the suspense
(the pressure)
is like a rubber band
drawing us together even as we
physically drift apart
(it's enough)
holding us together like
star-sign chains
cancer shackles
(emotions)
that keep us together
glue ground from beautiful heresy
and sweet blasphemies
this is awesome!!!!
this is awesome!!!!
