Laid waste by those who steal our hearts

we drown in turbulent undertows

Gasping for breath as it pulls us down

past a depth, only love knows

Kicking and fighting to surface again

we pray for a life giving breath

Struggling hard to ascend dark waters

we emerge, escaping death

Relieved and blessed with a second chance

drenched in the light above,

Our eyes open and faith renewed

To fill our hearts with love.
