Somehow This Became About Coffee

2017 There are few redeemable qualities more valuable today
than the combination of variable talents and the heartfelt sincerity
to repair what is broken in our insulated, vulnerable lives
Far too often
rather than depend
on the engineers striving to mend
we rely on the resolute ease
to uproot and replace
begin a new landscape
Bartering our love as something insignificant
like a ten dollar coffee machine
leaking
lasting three months
and tossed away without remorse
People are so fascinatingly organic
on one hand, so astute to observe
their desired coffee to thrive
and yet
so many unwilling
to respect the hardware fulfilling
a perfect cup of Joe (or Jane)
As Resources Wane
Recycling will become the scavenger activity of a world feeding off what came before. I fear financial collapse in my lifetime and the inevitability of failure for future generations. When the boomers are courting dust status, maybe sounder wisdom will replace our me-isms with altruism and cooperation. Maybe. - Lady A -
