As darkness consumes the light
And the Dragon gives up the fight
He lays alone and wonders
What it was that caused his blunders
Perhaps if he didn't give out his trust
Then his hope would not be reduced to dust
All beings that he has befriended and aided
Their presence has swiftly faded
As his sorrow grows so does his rage
It allows him to break out of his cage
A path of destruction he will soon pave
Even he does not know it leads to his grave
The torrent of rain is sudden and unexpected
It quenches the fire by which he has been infected
He wakes up from his enraged trance
And surveys the damage caused in a quick glance
A sickening pain he feels at the thought
He cannot believe the suffering he has brought
The ones that have cared for him through thick and thin
Have all become victims of his mindless sin
Even though they have hurt him a great deal
His love for them grows, allows him to heal
It is said that a dragon's blood can mend the soul
But nothing can be done for a heart blacker than coal
He thinks to himself "I must set this right
If I do not the future of all will not be too bright
I cannot be allowed to roam this earth any longer"
At this statement the pressence of death looms even stronger
Skin is punctured, the deep red ink flows
An odious stench rapidly fills his nose
The ghoul with the sickle has come for him now
Time for the dragon to take his final bow
His final thought as he departes from the world:
"Just as my companions I have thrown and hurled
Into the swirling vortex of unimaginable doom
I now must follow suit and enter my tomb"
Beautiful writing. Your imagery is perfect. The feeling laced in the words and between the lines is spectacular. Keep up the good work.
So far I have read three of your poems and this by far is the best of the three that I have seen. If all of your other poems are as good as the ones I have read so far, you are an excellent writer. I have all the respect in the world for a great writer, and you are one of them...Keep it up.
