Meaningful Voice

Feelings The little girl sits on the bus.
Staring out the window,
ignoring the taunts of others.
They laugh, and point, and call her names.
She tries to ignore them, but she starts to cry.
Now they laugh and taunt some more.
“Stop it!!” she yells, hoping they will stop.
Instead, she is pelted with echoed taunts.
Too afraid to tell, she sits,
with tears running down her face.
Finally, when it’s at its worst,
and she thinks it will never stop,
A voice rises above the rest.
“Stop! Put yourself in her place.
I know you wouldn’t like it.
So stop.”
The children stop, realizing their mistake.
But when ever they forget, and start teasing,
The helping voice rises above the rest.
