Verse1
Hey there little brother
you know I'm always here
snap your little fingers
I'll chase away your fears
don't look so sad
when we say goodbye
for I'm always near
Bridge
No matter how far away
no matter how long the day
just look over your shoulder
I'll be right there to guide you
I won't get in your way
always look around you
you know I'm always here
even when you're far away
Verse2
Hey there little brother
you know I wish you'd stay
but I know
you gotta go your own way
Repeat Bridge
Chorus
We're brothers
Brothers In Blood
you know the way
you know the way
'cause we're brothers
Brothers In Blood
Repeat Bridge
(solo)
Verse3
Hey there little brother
you're all grown up now
I'm so proud of you
for being who you are
I know one day
you'll go far
'cause you're my brother
'cause you're my brother
Repeat Chorus
Repeat Bridge
No matter how far away
no matter how long the day
just look over your shoulder
I'll be right there to guide you
I won't get in your way
Author's Notes/Comments:
I wrote this for my younger brother. He was getting ready to go off to college and I knew I wouldn't see him every day. I wanted him to know that I love him very much. He and I have a bond like I've not ever seen with any other brothers or sisters. He and I have always been there for each other no matter what. He's my best friend. I sat in my bedroom when I wrote this and started putting music to it pretty much right away. I recorded it as soon as I wrote it. So he would have a copy of it to take with him. A couple years ago my brother, our cousin, and I entered into a contest for Talent 'n' Tacos at a church for a friend of ours. I played "Brothers In Blood" after my brother got up there and read a poem he wrote called "Future Me." There weren't many dry eyes in the church after he read it. I thought "How am I gonna follow him?" My cousin played a song he wrote between my brother's poem and me playing "Brothers In Blood." There was about 100 people in the crowd at the church. Biggest crowd I've ever played in front of. After I played "Brothers In Blood" our friend, my cousin, and myself played a song and then they did the judging. I got 3rd for "Brothers In Blood." This lady got 2nd for a song she sang and was really good. My brother got 1st place for "Future Me." It was a very emotional night. Needless to say we filled up on a lot of Mexican food afterward. I'm very thankful that we got to do that in the House of the Lord!! It was AWESOME!!
