Verse1
I've looked into the eyes
of darkness
many times in my life
though the feelings are kind of strange
I know I'll get by
'cause all I have to do is try
try to make a better way
try to make a better day
try to make a better way
for my life
Verse2
I've seen the ugly scars
I've got 'em on me
the ones you can't see
are the worst
the scars from all the women
who told me they loved me
only to be lies
lies lies lies
Bridge
But I don't dwell
on lover's past
God showed me the way
He showed me the light
Chorus
God please show me the light
take me outta the darkness
outta the night
God please show me the way, the truth,
and the life
don't let me worry
about the
Black Holes In The Sky
Verse3
They say you can't escape
the pain in your mind
your heart and soul
they bleed
like the rain in the night
they say you can't mask
the pain in your eyes
but that's not true
just look into God's light
He will heal you
He will heal you
He will heal you
He will take your pain away
(solo)
Verse4
So open up your eyes
to the light
open up your heart and soul
to the way
the truth
the life
open up your mind
to God's path for you
follow Him through
follow Him through
follow Him through
Repeat Bridge and Chorus
Your note to the poem is very
Your note to the poem is very wise. Humans have a tendency to attempt to subtract God (except in moments of crisis, or chicken and potato salad lunches on the church grounds)---since those two naked knuckleheads in Eden decided to take matters into their own hands. We see it throughout the Scriptures, right up to the point some folks try to subtract Jesus through what was, basically, a lynching. Yet, the Epistle to the Hebrews assures believers that He will never leave us nor forsake us. That's us as believing individuals, not as a nation or a political entity.

That's very true, my friend.
