Embracements

I see beyond the stretches of time as I close my eyes and leap into oblivion.  Embrace me, oh shadows, oh night.  Embrace me, bring peace to my restless body and mind.  Let me slip once more from the fabric of space and time, and let me sleep once more.  The bright snow falls against the trees as I walk the path I have been set upon, and my weary head hangs with the distance of my travels, the fear of mistakes, and the decisions to make.  Please, let me sleep once more.  As the road ahead seems longer and steps begin to slow, I know the end is near, and my heart sinks low.  So much I have not done, so much I have not seen, but the heavy heart cannot fly on borrowed wings, as time begins to tell.  And know I rest my head and slip into my own personal hell.
