I can see the sunshine,
I can feel the warmth,
I have a thousand reasons to smile,
So why are you concerned?
I can feel the happiness,
I can taste sweet bliss,
Yet you say there's something wrong with me.
I'm not normal, but who is?
Sometimes I scream my heart out,
Sometimes I cry or lose control of rage,
Sometimes I say things I don't mean,
But so do most people my age.
You remind me I'm not normal,
You're concerned I won't survive,
You don't think I'll do well on my own.
Of your faith and trust I feel deprived.
Do you tell your friends I'm a trouble child?
I hear you tell my family all the time,
As though you just want a normal child,
With a normal behavior and normal mind.
I know you're trying to help me,
I know you think it shows you care,
But trying to "fix" me constantly,
That hurts me and it's not fair.
You think I live in darkness,
You think I'm some sort of pessimist,
You worry about my mental health,
As if I'm suicidal or depressed.
I can hear the positives,
I'm not the type to often frown,
But when you tell me everything that's wrong,
Of course it brings me down.
But I can see the sunshine,
I can feel the warmth,
I have a thousand reasons to smile,
So why are you concerned?
I can feel the happiness,
I can taste sweet bliss,
Yet you say there's something wrong with me.
I'm not normal, but who is?
You're perfect just the way
You're perfect just the way you are. Keep smiling and keep writing.
Thanks!
Thank u :)
