"Once upon a time" does seem
To be the fuel of children's dreams.
And every damzel who grows more since
Goes looking for her charming prince.
Someone to sweep her off her feet,
And know true love when their eyes do meet.
Fairytales are filled with love and laughter
And always end in "happily ever after."
It's because of this, some do say,
Children become hurt everyday.
This is why a child is so naïve.
But to those words, I disagree.
These stories teach a child to be
Open to many possibilities.
Imagination thrives within their mind,
Which in adults is hard to find.
If we all saw the world as children do,
Perhaps we'd see the possible too.
"Once upon a time" does seem
To be the fuel of children's dreams
And every damzel who grows more since
Goes looking for her charming prince.
Perhaps children aren't so naïve to say
Happily ever afters aren't so "far far away."
