There I Go Wishing Again
I close my eyes, in dream land again,
My wife and kids playing in the lawn,
I sit in a chair looking at the sky,
Then I let out a tired yawn.
There I go wishing again,
I never can seem to stay in reality,
Life is never quite that easy,
all these wishes inside of me.
I go to a pool, forget how to swim,
My head goes under not to come up anymore,
The lifeguard jumps in, a beautiful Girl,
She gives me mouth to mouth, now it's her I adore.
There I go, wishing again,
I can't ever get a grip of reality,
Life is never gonna be that nice,
All these wishes inside of me.
I walk outside, no trash on the road,
Turn on the t.v. good news is told,
Peace has wrapped itself around the world,
It's about time that we take each other by the hand and keep hold..
There I go, wishing again,
This is never gonna be a reality,
The world will never be a perfect place,
Cause evil is all we'll ever see.
Another Georgia writer?? I really liked this poem. I have spent a lot of hours day-dreaming. Now I call it brainstorming for my stories! LOL. I'm from Ga. too and still live here. Thanks for this fine piece of poetry. I enjoyed it immensely.

excellent poem tommy. true...though i think we need our dreams and fantasies as well as our reality. a very wise friend of mine wrote :the best thing about fantasy is that its still there when everything else in your life has collapsed. true? JM
Wonderful poem, Tommy....i especially like the ethereal dreamlike quality inherent within the lines...U pen it so well....particularly the ending. And the rhyming words are most aptly chosen and phrased.... however, i wonder about the second last stanza: 'told' and 'hand' dont rhyme in the ABCB style u used for the upper stanzas... Just my own thought, Tommy. Smilesz...this poem is already commendable. Thanxs for sharing this~!~!
