Then and Now

I've noticed that things are not quite the same these days,

Things have changed.

...The achromatic sun sets over the horizon quicker these days,

And the unforgiving winter nights are frigid and long.

My ocean of tears causes ships to sink more often these days,

For my poisoned heart is no longer pulsating and strong.

My broken and bruised corpse is more exhausted these days,

Just want to cuddle with my teddy bear and hibernate in my bloodstained bed.

I've been singing more songs of separation and solitude these days,

Trying to tune out your voice that still lingers in the back of my head.

I find it harder to breathe these days,

Your lies have contaminated my lungs and your screams have polluted the air.

It's more difficult to dream these days,

For my future has fallen to its fatality and is beyond repair.

The world is a more dangerous place these days,

In my own shadow I can safely hide.

Each moment is harder to survive these days,

Without you by my unstable side?

I look back at the past,

When things were better,

When life was worth living.

...The radiant sun used to shine brighter those days,

When we would prance with joy through the fields and pick flowers for each other among the grass.

You gave me so much confidence in myself those days,

Assuring me that I could walk barefoot on an ocean covered with broken glass.

True bliss was always found those days,

When our lips would intertwine and sing their special song.

Comfort was much easier to seek those days,

Safe in your heavenly arms I felt like I should forever belong.

Our relationship's flame was much brighter in those days,

When we used to sit by the bright fire and gaze and the stars above.

Smiles were permanently glued on my face those days,

When we two young innocent souls were in love.

Tranquility was omnipresent those days,

When the world witnessed two magically become one.

You gave me a reason to live those days,

When your angelic face brightened my day just like the sun...

Well now the sun is gone,

Those days are gone,

And so are you.
