I let her get away, she snapped off my line,

She's never coming back; I ran out of time.

You left me all alone, with all this poisonous pain that you gave me,

But my friends continuously assure me, "Don't worry, there are plenty of fish in the sea."



Well, I'm gonna unpack my equipment, gonna go retrieve me pole;

I'm gonna go fishin' once I find a way out of this mysterious black hole.

It's opening day, time to go make my first catch of the year,

I'm gonna go find someone who can brush away all these toxic tears.



But before I go, I gotta go get some bait,

My confidence is high; God I just can't wait!

I'm gonna go out to that blue, open sea,

To find that someone whom forever wants to be with me.



I'm gonna go fishin', I'm gonna go down to the lake,

My life, love, and future are all at stake.

I'm gonna go fishin', I'm gonna go down to the river,

Your cold heart and blood still makes me shiver and quiver.

I'm gonna cry out for help, just hoping someone will respond.

I'm gonna drown this nightmare and start living my long awaited dream.



I'm gonna grab her with my hook, I'm slowly gonna lure her in,

I'm gonna catch my fish; I'm gonna be happy again.

I'm gonna bring her to the shore nice and slow,

I'm not gonna mess up this time; I'm not gonna let this one go.



All I want is someone in my life to bring me comfort and peace,

But it seems like every time I go fishing, all I do is catch and release.

I'm gonna go down to the water and find my perfect match,

I'm gonna be loud and relentless; everyone is gonna feel my splash.



Well, you've escaped off my hook, you snapped off my unstable line,

You broke my heart; maybe I can catch you again some other time.

Well, fishin' season is almost over, it's almost too late;

I'm gonna go cast my line into that deceiving sea, hoping to find my soul mate.
