The Path
We walk the path to which all roads lead
Walking together in silence without want or need
A distant horn sounds calling us home
But we each have sins that we must atone
Mine being jealousy and anger to name a few
Lust and pride being her two
A gentle glance over as if to say “Do we have a chance”
I simply smile and ask “May I have this dance”
As we twirl slow in the soundless moonlight
I whisper in her ear “We will be alright”
She holds me close as we share our last kiss
Soft and sweet, unimaginable bliss
We detach ourselves from our loving embrace
And continue on the path at a snail’s pace
With her hand in mine we brave the unknown
Truly not knowing if mercy will be shown
But whatever our fate, we shall see it through
With her at my side that’s the least I can do
Fantastic. So well-written.
