I look into your eyes
As you look into mine
Aren't I supposed to feel something?
I cup my hand
As you place yours in mine
Aren't I supposed to feel something?
I place my lips to yours
As you lean in for a kiss
Aren't I supposed to feel something?
I tremble while i lay
As you enter and fill my insides
Aren't I supposed to feel something?
I part from
As you leave my side
Aren't I supposed to feel something?
Having been with one man for the last 9 years, I can totally relate to this... there are times in our relationship where things become so functional and robotic, it's just like going thru the motions without any feeling or passion behind it... I don't have any poetry that speaks on this and I love how you've nailed the feeling, even if you are talking about a random sexual encounter and not a relationship you've been in long term, the feeling can exist in several different types of situations- this is a lovely write and I also appreciate the shapely structure and repetition in the piece :-)
